Privacy policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data MakeAppVisible collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what choices you have.

MakeAppVisible is a two-sided marketplace connecting app founders with growth experts. We apply data protection by design across accounts, marketplace transactions, payments, and analytics.

1. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you use MakeAppVisible — as an app owner, growth expert, visitor, or buyer of credits and services — we may collect:

• Account data: name, email address, profile photo (if you sign in with Google or GitHub), password hash (if you use email sign-in), and platform role.
• Organisation data: public name, slug, organisation type, country, timezone, bio, website URL, logo, and verification status.
• Marketplace content: app listings, service descriptions, briefs, proposals, contract scope snapshots, deliverable links, reviews, and messages submitted through the platform.
• Billing and payment data: credit purchase history, subscription and payment records, billing email, and transaction metadata. Card details are collected and processed by Stripe; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
• Payout data (experts): if you connect a Stripe account to receive contract payouts, Stripe collects the information required for identity verification and payouts under its own privacy policy.
• Support and communications: information you provide when contacting us, opening a dispute, or interacting with notifications and emails we send.
• Usage and analytics data: pages viewed, outbound store-link clicks, search queries, device and browser type, IP address, and approximate location derived from IP (used for security, analytics, and service improvement).
• Cookies and similar technologies: session cookies required for sign-in and preferences. See section 9 below.

We collect only what we need to operate the marketplace. We do not ask for unnecessary sensitive categories of data (such as health, religion, or political opinions). In most cases you cannot remain fully anonymous if you create an account, post a brief, or enter into a contract — we need to identify you to provide those services.

Where we rely on consent (for example, optional marketing emails), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

2. What we do with your information

We use personal data to:

• Create and manage your account and organisation profile.
• Operate the marketplace: publish apps and services, match briefs with proposals, track contracts, process escrow payments, calculate platform fees, and enable reviews after completed work.
• Sell and deliver credits, launch programs, and other paid features.
• Send transactional messages: confirmations, contract updates, dispute notices, and security alerts.
• Send marketing about MakeAppVisible products, features, and offers where you have opted in or where permitted by law. You can opt out at any time.
• Moderate content, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and resolve disputes between marketplace participants.
• Improve the platform: analytics, product development, quality control, and aggregated reporting.
• Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

3. How we personalise the service

We use data from your account, browsing activity, and marketplace interactions to make MakeAppVisible more useful — for example:

• Showing relevant apps, services, briefs, and experts in search and discovery.
• Ranking and surfacing listings based on completeness, freshness, and verification.
• Remembering your sign-in state and dashboard preferences.
• Understanding which features and categories are most relevant so we can improve recommendations and communications.

We do not sell your personal data. Personalisation is based on activity on MakeAppVisible and, where applicable, aggregated or pseudonymised analytics — not on unrelated third-party advertising profiles.

4. Marketing communications

If you opt in to marketing, we may email you about new features, marketplace tips, launch programs, and offers we think may interest you. You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

Even if you opt out of marketing, we will still send essential service messages — for example payment receipts, contract status updates, security notices, and responses to support requests. These are necessary to perform our contract with you.

If you ask us to stop marketing emails, we retain a record of your request so you are not contacted again for that purpose.

5. How long we keep your information

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the services you use. When you delete your account or ask us to erase data, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information to:

• Meet legal, tax, or accounting requirements (for example payment records).
• Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
• Maintain security logs and prevent fraud.

We may retain anonymous or aggregated data indefinitely for analytics and product improvement. Contract and payment records linked to completed marketplace transactions may be kept for the period required by applicable law.

6. How we protect your information

We apply technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These include:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS) for data sent between your browser and our servers.
• Access controls limiting who can view production data.
• Secure handling of authentication credentials and session tokens.
• Payment processing through Stripe, which maintains PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Sharing your information

We share personal data only where necessary:

• Other marketplace users: information you choose to publish — such as your organisation profile, app listings, services, proposals, and reviews — is visible to other users according to your settings and our product design.
• Stripe: payment processing, credit purchases, contract escrow, expert payouts via Stripe Connect, and fraud prevention. Stripe processes data under its own privacy policy.
• OAuth providers: if you sign in with Google or GitHub, those providers process data according to their respective policies.
• Infrastructure providers: hosting, database, and email delivery services that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements where required.
• Legal and safety: regulators, courts, or law enforcement when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and platform integrity.

We do not sell personal data to data brokers or advertisers.

8. Accessing and updating your information

You can update much of your profile data directly in the dashboard (Settings, organisation profile, listings). Under GDPR and similar laws you also have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Request erasure of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Request restriction of processing or object to certain processing.
• Request data portability in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise these rights, email support@makeappvisible.com. We aim to respond within one month. Complex requests may take up to two months; we will let you know if an extension is needed. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

9. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. MakeAppVisible uses cookies and similar technologies to:

• Keep you signed in and maintain your session.
• Remember preferences and improve how pages load and display.
• Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the product.

You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. If you disable essential session cookies, sign-in and dashboard features may not work correctly.

We do not use cookies to link anonymous browsing data to payment card details. Analytics data is used at an aggregate level where possible.

10. International transfers

MakeAppVisible may process data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. When personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we use appropriate safeguards — such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms — where required by law.

11. Children

MakeAppVisible is a business marketplace for app founders and professional growth experts. It is not directed at children under 16 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, products, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email where appropriate. The updated policy will show a revised date at the top of this page. Continued use of MakeAppVisible after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14. GDPR and your rights

MakeAppVisible follows GDPR principles: lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

Legal bases for processing include: performance of a contract (operating your account and marketplace transactions), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and personalised discovery where balanced against your rights), consent (optional marketing), and legal obligation (tax, compliance, and dispute records).

Data controller: MakeAppVisible operates the platform and determines how personal data is processed in connection with marketplace services. Payment data processed by Stripe is also governed by Stripe's terms as an independent controller or processor depending on the transaction type.

If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy request, you may lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence.

We maintain internal records of processing activities as required by GDPR Article 30.
